lyrics

A Hurt By Any Other Name
(Artur Labermaier/Frederic Frees)

My own ego made you frown,
I never meant to put you down.
It will always be my shame,
I had ever caused you pain, again.

Now you’re wounded, like a bird.
Made you suffer from just a word.
A hurt by any other name,
would still cause you pain.

Injured feelings, feeling used.
Heart is reeling, lost and bruised.
Now our love has been disgraced,
hardest thing you ever faced, again.

It wasn’t you who was remiss,
who put you in the dark abyss.
A hurt by any other name,
would still cause you pain.

If I could apologize,
find forgiveness in your eyes.
It will always be my shame,
I had ever caused you pain, again.
